DayDestinationDescription
Days 1-2Levanto to MonterossoThe famous coastal path of the Cinque Terre offers breathtaking views of the coast and the colourful painted houses that make up the 'five lands'. From the picturesque harbour of Levanto, hike ancient mule paths to Monterosso's sandy beaches and make sure to visit its medieval village and castle.
Day 3Monterosso to RiomaggioreBack on the scenic path, continue along through Vernazza, home to the romantic ruins of an 11th century castle perched on a tiny peninsula. The next stop is peaceful Corniglia, a village perched upon a rocky promontory - it's a great stop for lunch - before continuing on to the last of the colourful Cinque Terre villages, Riomaggiore.
Days 4-5Riomaggiore to PortovenereTrek through terraced vineyards and across a wooded ridge, past the sanctuary church of Montenero, before descending into pretty Portovenere. This ancient town dates back to Roman times and it retains a medieval feel, courtesy of the massive hilltop fortress and fortified houses along the port. Spend your final day seeing the sights here, or perhaps embark on a boat tour to admire the Cinque Terre from a different perspective.
